Edrisah Kenzo Musuuza, professionally known as Eddy Kenzo, is a Ugandan singer, songwriter, music executive, entrepreneur, and philanthropist whose work has helped expand the international profile of Ugandan popular music. Born in Masaka, Uganda, he experienced childhood homelessness after losing his mother at an early age, spending more than a decade living on the streets of Masaka and Kampala. He began recording professionally in 2008, gaining national recognition with the 2010 single "Stamina," which earned him the Best New Artist award at the 2011 Pearl of Africa Music Awards.
In 2011, Kenzo founded Big Talent Entertainment, the independent label behind much of his catalogue. His international breakthrough came in 2014 with "Sitya Loss," whose viral video featuring the Ghetto Kids introduced his music to audiences worldwide. He has since released the albums "Ogenda Kunzisa" (2012), "Kamunguluze" (2013), "Sitya Loss" (2014), "Zero to Hero" (2016), "Biology" (2017), "Roots" (2018), "Made in Africa" (2021), and "Blessings" (2023), alongside successful singles including "Jambole," "Mbilo Mbilo," "Soraye," "Weekend," "Tweyagale," and "Nkulungula."
Kenzo became the first Ugandan and first East African artist to win a BET Award, receiving the Viewer's Choice Best New International Artist award in 2015. His career also includes a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award, multiple All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), and two Grammy Award nominations: "Gimme Love" with Matt B for Best Global Music Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, and "Hope & Love" with Mehran Matin for Best African Music Performance at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
Beyond recording and performing, Kenzo serves as President and founder of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) and was appointed Senior Presidential Advisor on Creatives in Uganda. Through the Eddy Kenzo Foundation and Big Talent Soccer Academy, he supports youth development, education, sports, and community initiatives. His recording career, entrepreneurial leadership, philanthropy, and advocacy have established him as one of Uganda's most influential contemporary artists.
